Chapter White City, marks an important western gateway into London, on a prominent site, formerly the Savoy Cinema, that had been vacant for 20 years. This Project consists of a 9-storey student accommodation located at the junction of Western Avenue and Old Oak Road, East Acton, London W12. The development will be built using modular construction and will consist of 306 student units, with two levels of basement provided below ground level and seven storeys of superstructure above ground level.

A 600mm deep transfer slab will be provided at ground floor level, with the modular units constructed from this transfer slab. The transfer slab will be supported on a contiguous pile wall, and RC wall supported by pile caps and piled foundations.

The buildings lateral stability will be accommodated by a combination of 2 no. full height RC cores and by a steel stability frame located between the modular units.

BMCE have provided full civil/structural design services for the proposed works.
